Abi Jones is set to begin her first college softball season, as she will seek innings in the circle for Division I Grand Canyon University in Phoenix.
Last spring Jones hurled Salinas to a State Northern California Division II title, striking out 225 hitters, finishing with 19 wins.
In three full seasons for the Cowboys, the 5-foot-8 right-hander finished her high school career with 660 strikeouts.
The Herald’s Softball Player of the Year in 2024 and a three-time member of the all-county team, Jones was a two-time all-state selection.
