The pilot and his passenger were able to walk away after their aircraft crashed in east of Miller Canyon near Laurel Springs Road in rural Monterey County on Sunday. CalFire personnel hoisted the two people from the crash scene. They were treated for minor injuries. The Sheriff's Office said, according to the pilot, the aircraft had departed the Salinas Municipal Airport earlier in the morning for a sightseeing trip but the plane appeared to be leaking fuel prior to going down.
